This summer (August 27th – 31st) the Dutch Institute of World Class Maintenance (DI-WCM) organizes an international academic Summer School in Breda, The Netherlands. The WCM Summer School is the outcome of a close cooperation between six Dutch universities and the Dutch industry on Maintenance Management & Engineering.

We look for Master (or PhD) students and young professionals (within 5 years after graduation) with an academic Bachelor’s degree in any technical subject. People that are close to obtaining such a degree or that have another Bachelor’s degree and a strong interest in Maintenance Management & Engineering may apply as well.

The WCM Summer School will be hosted in the prestigious ‘Kasteel’ of Breda, one of the education facilities of the The Netherlands Defence Academy. The workshops in the Summer School will be provided by top professors in Maintenenance Management & Engineering from six universities in The Netherlands. We have been able to keep the fee for participants very low (125 euro for students and 750 euro for participants from companies).

Our program involves both theory and application as well as fun and good opportunities to meet both young, high potential students and professionals and highly recognized professors. During the week, the professors will present their material around a real case company which is a international firm from The Netherlands.

Students will work before and after lecturing hours together in small groups on the case and will try to design a multi-disciplinary improvement plan by making use of the presented concepts. The end-result will be presented on the last day of the Summer School. The best group will be selected by a special committee of representatives of the Dutch maintenance industry.
